In a medium bowl using a hand mixer, beat butter and sugar until light.
It had to be buttery, a little crumbly (like shortbread), and not too sweet.

Butter cookies step by step
- Mix flour and sugar together.
- Add butter,egg,sugar and flavor.
- Mix them altogether until turn into a soft and smooth dough.
- Roll a small ball and press it with your palms until it forms a circle.
- Place a fork on the dough circle.
- Bake the cookies until golden brown.
The dough is like my spritz cookies, but with a little milk to make it pipe-able. Make sure it's properly softened to room temperature before beginning. I made the ice box version because it's so quick. Used colored sugar to make them pretty. I really need to find an easy to use cookie press because I'd love to make the spritz version.
