Ingredients of Buttercream Icing

  1. It's 1/2 cup of shortening.
  2. Prepare 1/2 cup of butter/margarine.
  3. Prepare 5 cup of icing sugar.
  4. Prepare 1 of food colouring.
  5. It's 2 tsp of vanilla.
  6. You need 1/4 cup of cold cream.

Buttercream Icing step by step

  1. put bowl in fridge or freezer.
  2. mix marg/shortening until creamed.
  3. add vanilla.
  4. add alternatively,cold cream & icing sugar.
  5. mix till well blended or whip.
  6. separate into smaller bowls then add different colour food colouring(using too much will change icing consistency).
  7. For thinner icing use less icing sugar, thicker use more.

To keep things from tasting too buttery or sugary, add vanilla! This classic buttercream icing recipe is the perfect way to top cakes and cupcakes.
