The famous curry came to be out of a need to use up leftover chicken. So grilled tandoori chicken got mixed with some tomato curry, butter and cream and a star was born. Saute shallot and onion until soft and translucent.
Ingredients of Butter Chicken Curry

- Prepare 1/2 stick of Butter.
- It's of Onion -2 medium sized.
- You need of Onion -finely chopped 1/4th cup.

- Prepare 2 tbsp of Ginger garlic paste.

- You need 1/2 tbsp of Chilli Pwd -.
- You need 1 tbsp of Coariander pwd -.
- Prepare of Garam masala - 1/4th tsp.
- It's of Salt.
- Prepare 2 tsp of Turmeric pwd -.
- It's 1 tbsp of Sugar -.
- Prepare 1.5 tbsp of Tomato ketchup -.
- It's Half of and half or whipping cream 1/4th cup.
Butter Chicken Curry instructions
- Get the chicken ready. Cut the chicken into medium pieces. Put the pan on a medium heat add 2tbsp of butter once the butter starts to melt add finely chopped onion. Saute onion till its translucent. add 1/2 tbsp ginger garlic paste.add 1/4th tsp turmeric pwd. Saute the paste for a minute and then add chicken pcs close the lid and cook till chicken is cooked 90%..
- To make Gravy :- In a pan add roughly chopped onion, remaining ginger garlic paste, cinnamon, cloves, cardamon, cashews, almonds. Saute everything for a minute. Now add tomatoes saute for another minute. Add 1/4th cup water to pan let it come to boil. Switch off stove and let the mixture cool off completely. Put the mixture into a blender and blend to a fine paste. The gravy is ready..
- Final step cooking chicken and gravy together :- In a pan add remaining butter melt the butter add the gravy into the pan on a medium heat.add water to get right consistency. Add chilli pwd, coariander pwd and garam masala. Mix everything together. Close the lid and let it boil on low heat. Open the lid add water to get desired gravy consistency add salt, sugar and tomato ketchup. Once again close the lid and cook for another 5-6 mins. Mixing in between..
